Setting Up an Outbound Route on Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition

outbound route dial pattern external calls trunk

Introduction

An outbound route controls which trunk the PBX uses when an extension dials an external number. It also lets you apply dial patterns (to match and reformat numbers) and restrict which users can make certain types of call (e.g. blocking international calls for most staff).

Menu path

Call Control > Outbound Route, click Add.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1 — Basic details

Field What to enter
Name e.g. UK Calls, Mobiles, International
Outbound Route Password Optional — if set, users must enter this PIN before the call connects (useful for restricting premium numbers)

Step 2 — Dial patterns

Dial patterns match and optionally reformat the number a user dials. Click Add Dial Pattern:

Pattern What it matches
0. Any UK number starting with 0 (landlines and mobiles)
07. UK mobile numbers only
00. International calls (starts with 00)
999 Emergency calls
1. Any number (catch-all — place last)

Pattern syntax:
- . (period) = match one or more digits
- X = match exactly one digit (0–9)
- Z = match one digit 1–9
- [range] = match one digit in the range e.g. [2-9]

Step 3 — Trunk

Move your SIP trunk from Available to Selected.

Step 4 — Time Condition (optional)

Restrict outbound calls to certain times (e.g. no international calls outside business hours).

Step 5 — Member Extensions (optional)

Under Member, specify which extensions or extension groups are allowed to use this route. Leave blank to allow all extensions.

Step 6 — Priority

Routes are evaluated in order from top to bottom. Place more specific routes (e.g. emergency numbers) above general ones. Drag routes to reorder them.

Step 7 — Save

Click Save and Apply.

Step 8 — Test

Dial an external number from an extension and confirm the call connects.

Tips

  • Always create an emergency route (999, 112) and place it at the top of the outbound route list.
  • If a call fails, go to Reports > CDR and look at the status — "No matching outbound route" means your dial pattern doesn't match the number format being dialled.
  • For UK SIP trunks, numbers are typically sent in full national format (e.g. 01234567890) — your dial pattern needs to match this.

Summary

Outbound routing is configured. Extensions can now make external calls routed through your SIP trunk.
