Blocking Unwanted Numbers on Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition
Rather not do this yourself?
X2Comms Managed Edition customers don't need this guide — we handle all configuration and system changes as part of the service. Not yet with X2Comms? We deploy and fully configure Yeastar systems from day one. Call 03301025678 to find out more.
Introduction
If you're receiving nuisance calls, spam, or calls from specific numbers you want to block, Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition has a built-in blacklist. Calls from blocked numbers are rejected automatically before they ring any phone.
Method 1 — Using the Blacklist (recommended)
Adding a number to the blacklist
- Go to Call Control > Blacklist.
- Click Add.
- Enter the Number you want to block (e.g.
01234567890or07912345678). - You can also use wildcards to block ranges:
070.blocks all numbers starting with 07009.blocks premium rate numbers (starting with 09)- Set the Caller ID Name field to something recognisable (e.g.
SPAM) — optional but useful for identifying blocked calls in the logs. - Click Save and Apply.
What happens to blacklisted calls
The caller hears a busy tone or a rejection message. The call appears in the CDR as "Rejected" so you have an audit trail.
Method 2 — Block at the inbound route level
For finer control (e.g. block on one DDI but not another), use a dedicated inbound route:
- Go to Call Control > Inbound Route, click Add.
- Set the DID Pattern to the number you want to block.
- Set the Default Destination to Hang Up.
- Place this route above your main inbound route in the priority order.
- Click Save and Apply.
Blocking a caller mid-call
You cannot add a number to the blacklist during a live call — note the number and add it to the blacklist after the call ends.
To find the number:
1. Go to Reports > CDR after the call.
2. Find the call and note the From number.
3. Add it to the blacklist.
Blocking anonymous/withheld numbers
To block all calls where the caller ID is withheld:
1. Go to Call Control > Blacklist.
2. Add an entry with Anonymous or leave the number field blank (check your PBX version — behaviour varies).
Tips
- The blacklist applies system-wide — blocked numbers can't reach any extension, ring group, or IVR.
- You can export your blacklist as a CSV from the Blacklist page and import it on another system.
- For persistent spam campaigns, contact your SIP trunk provider — they can block at the carrier level before it even reaches your PBX.
Summary
Go to Call Control > Blacklist and add nuisance numbers. They'll be rejected automatically. Use CDR to find numbers from recent calls you want to block.
