Checking If a Phone Is Registered on Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition
Rather not do this yourself?
X2Comms Managed Edition customers don't need this guide — we handle all configuration and system changes as part of the service. Not yet with X2Comms? We deploy and fully configure Yeastar systems from day one. Call 03301025678 to find out more.
Introduction
Before troubleshooting a call problem, the first thing to check is whether the phone is actually registered to the PBX. An unregistered phone can't make or receive calls. This guide explains how to check registration status from the admin portal and from the phone itself.
From the PBX admin portal
Status Centre (Dashboard)
- Log in to the admin portal.
- The Status Centre home page shows all extensions with their current status:
- Green circle = Registered (online, available to make/receive calls)
- Grey circle = Unregistered (no active registration)
- Yellow circle = Busy (on a call)
- Red circle = DND (Do Not Disturb enabled)
This is the fastest way to see the status of all extensions at a glance.
Extension list
- Go to Extension and Trunk > Extension.
- The list view shows the registration status icon next to each extension.
- Click on an extension to see detailed registration information including which IP address the phone is registered from and the registration time.
From the phone itself
Yealink desk phones
- Registered: The phone displays the user's name and extension number on the home screen.
- Not registered: The phone displays "Unregistered", "No Service", or a similar message.
The exact text varies by Yealink model, but any message other than the extension's name and number indicates a registration problem.
Common reasons a phone shows as unregistered
| Reason | Fix |
|---|---|
| Wrong SIP password | Reset Registration Password in PBX, re-enter on phone |
| Phone has no network connection | Check cable and switch port |
| Phone IP/DNS issue | Check phone IP address; verify it can reach the PBX domain |
| SIP ALG on router | Disable SIP ALG in router settings |
| Phone was factory reset | Re-provision or re-enter SIP credentials |
Tips
- After making any change to an extension's SIP credentials or provisioning settings, check the Status Centre 60 seconds later to confirm the phone re-registered successfully.
- Bulk check all extensions by going to Extension and Trunk > Extension and sorting by status — offline extensions appear grouped.
Summary
Check extension registration from the Status Centre Dashboard (green = registered) or the Extension list. For individual phones, the home screen shows the user name when registered and an error message when not.
