Creating a Ring Group on Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition

ring group hunt group team simultaneous ring

Introduction

A ring group lets multiple phones ring when one number is dialled. When a customer calls in and presses 1 for Sales, all the sales team phones ring — whoever answers first takes the call. This guide covers creating a ring group in the Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition.

Menu path

Call Features > Ring Group, click Add.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1 — Basic Settings

Field What to enter
Number A virtual number callers or staff dial to reach the group (default range: 6300–6399, e.g. 6300)
Name e.g. Sales, Support, Reception

Step 2 — Ring Strategy

Choose how calls are distributed among group members:

Strategy How it works Best for
Ring All All members' phones ring simultaneously Small teams, reception
Ring Sequentially Phones ring one at a time in the order you set Tiered escalation
Memory Hunt Starts where the last call left off, working through members in rotation Fair distribution
Custom Set a custom delay and ring timeout per member Complex routing needs

Step 3 — Ring Timeout

Set the Ring Timeout (s) — how many seconds to ring before moving to the failover destination (e.g. 30 seconds).

Step 4 — Add Members

In the Members section, move the extensions you want in this group from Available to Selected.

For the Custom strategy, set per-member:
- Delay (s) — seconds before this member's phone starts ringing (0–600)
- Ring Timeout (s) — how long this member's phone rings before moving on (1–600)

Step 5 — Call Routing

Field What to configure
Failover Destination Where calls go if nobody answers (e.g. voicemail, another extension, external mobile)
Record Missed Calls Toggle on to log missed calls in CDR
No Extension Online Destination Where calls go if all members are offline/unregistered

Step 6 — Optional: Time Conditions

Expand the Time Conditions section to route the ring group differently outside business hours or on holidays.

Step 7 — Save

Click Save and Apply.

Step 8 — Test

Dial the ring group number (e.g. 6300) from an internal extension. All member phones should ring.

Linking to an inbound route or IVR

The ring group number is an internal virtual number. To send external calls to it:
- In an Inbound Route, set the Default Destination to this ring group.
- In an IVR, assign the ring group as the destination for a key press (e.g. Key 1 → Sales ring group).

Tips

  • Add a Caller ID prefix (under Optional Prompts > Ring Group Alert Info) such as [Sales] so agents can see which group a call came through before answering.
  • You can add the same extension to multiple ring groups.
  • If members frequently miss calls, check they have not enabled Do Not Disturb (DND) on their phones.

Summary

The ring group is ready. External callers reach the whole team through an inbound route or IVR; internal callers dial the group number directly.
