Creating a SIP Extension in Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition
Rather not do this yourself?
X2Comms Managed Edition customers don't need this guide — we handle all configuration and system changes as part of the service. Not yet with X2Comms? We deploy and fully configure Yeastar systems from day one. Call 03301025678 to find out more.
Introduction
An extension is an internal phone number assigned to a person. Every team member who needs to make or receive calls needs their own extension. This guide covers how to create one in the Yeastar P-Series Cloud Edition admin portal.
Menu path
Extension and Trunk > Extension, click Add, then select Add.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1 — User Information
Fill in the personal details for this user:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| First Name | User's first name |
| Last Name | User's last name |
| Email Address | Work email — used for voicemail-to-email and welcome emails |
| Mobile Number | Optional — used for SMS notifications |
| User Password | Password the user logs into the Linkus app with |
| User Role | Select User for a standard employee; Admin only for IT administrators |
Step 2 — Extension Information
Scroll down to the Extension Information section:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Extension Number | e.g. 1001 — use a consistent numbering scheme |
| Caller ID | Usually the user's name — shown on receiving phones when they call internally |
| Registration Name | Usually the same as the extension number |
| Registration Password | Auto-generated — note this down, you'll need it to register an IP phone |
Leave Concurrent Registrations at defaults unless the user needs to be logged in on multiple devices simultaneously.
Step 3 — Save
Click Save and Apply (the orange button that appears at the top of the page).
Step 4 — Verify
Go back to Extension and Trunk > Extension. The new extension appears in the list. Its status will show as offline until a phone or the Linkus app registers to it.
Sending a welcome email to the user
After creating the extension:
1. Find the extension in the list and click to edit it.
2. Click Send Email — this sends the user their Linkus app QR code and login details.
Bulk importing extensions
To create many extensions at once:
1. Go to Extension and Trunk > Extension.
2. Click Import and download the CSV template.
3. Fill in the spreadsheet and upload it.
Tips
- Use 4-digit extension numbers (e.g. 1001, 1002) for businesses — they're easier to remember than 3-digit numbers if you have more than 9 users.
- Extension numbers must be unique across the system.
- You can edit any field later by clicking the extension in the list.
Summary
The extension is created. Next, register a SIP phone or the Linkus app to this extension so the user can start making and receiving calls.
